Takaso Resources Berhad clarifies that the company is not in any deal of negotiation with Carlyle Group Takaso Resources Berhad, which suspended the trading of its shares today to verify a report that said Carlyle Group was buying over the company, stated there was no truth in the report. Upon checking and investigating the said article with Takaso’s substantial shareholders and directors, they are not aware of any talks or contact with anyone from the Carlyle Group. |

Takaso set for active trade on Carlyle news KUALA LUMPUR: Takaso Resources Bhd shares may see active trade today after reports emerged that a United States-based private equity fund is in a team leading a buyout of the company. Thr report, which emerged on Friday, has not been denied by Takaso nor American private equity firm Carlyle Group. Interest in Takaso, the country’s first condom maker, has seen its shares heavily traded, closing at 27 sen last Friday. |

Takaso to diversity income stream KUALA LUMPUR: Rubber manufacturer Takaso Resources Bhd, whose share price has been on the uptrend for the last two months, plans to diversify its income stream by expanding into the ready-to-eat market segment. Executive chairman Tee Tze Chern said in a statement yesterday that the group believes it can exploit the ready-to-eat market segment given the vibrant food culture in Malaysia adn the constant demand for food. |

Takaso looking into defence venture KUALA LUMPUR: Takaso Resources Bhd is contemplating venturing into the defence business, one of its top executives indicated yesterday. Under the plan, Takaso may form a new subsidiary to partner Amdac Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Pesaka Astana (M)), a contractor with about 20 years of experience in building and supplying vehicles for the Ministry of Defence (Mindef). Takaso executive director Chin Boon Kim said the company is always looking at ways to improve its income stream but thus far, nothing has been cast in stone yet. |
